Kanye West has denied criticism while slamming the media for reporting that the crowd at his first show at London's Wireless Festival booed him during a length rant - accusing them of 'twisting everything'.
During his gig at the London leg of the festival at Finsbury Park this weekend, West was said to have been booed by fans after spending 20 minutes of his 90 minute set in a long and passionate rant - with many fans growing weary and eagre for him to play more tracks.
Then, as The Birmningham Mail reports, Kanye was beter received at the Birmingham leg of the festival - but took the time to attack the media for claiming he was booed.
"It doesn't matter what I say, from the top of my mind to the bottom of my heart there is nothing they can do to stop me," he said. "The media wrote that people booed and you know what, I'm not going to lie, I'm not invincible. It hurt me a little bit because I knew how much of a good time that everyone had."
He added: "I'm sorry that I'm not a complete belligerent arsehole that I normally am, but I will be back."
Performing in London's Finsbury Park on Friday (4 July) , West took to the stage in the North London park following performances earlier in the day from the likes of Tinie Tempah, Iggy Azalea and Pharrell Williams. Dressed in a mask, which he wore for five full tracks before removing, he performed a mixture of tracks from his controversial and divisive 2013 album Yeezus along with classic hits from his career.
Pausing to thank fans during the performance, West addressed the huge London audience, saying that everyone in attendance was part of his 'clique'.
"How can I spend a whole career saying what I feel and still have hundreds and thousands coming to see me? ‘Cause I got a clique! You keep me alive," he said during the show.
However, with the hits also came a trademark rant, which went down less than well with British festival goers.
"They control everyone with rumours and lies…they steal you from you and sell you back to you," he said, as he launched into a rambling tirade.
"How many people here think they’re awesome and have had people say they’re not their whole lives? What have I ever done other than believe in myself?"
The rant lasted over 20 minutes - and fans were left booing and desperate for more hits. Although many fans were also cheering his long, rambling monologue.
