The owners of the dog left behind at Glastonbury festival, and which Dolly Parton vowed to adopt if no one came forward, have been found.

The fluffy white dog was discovered by festival staff during the clean-up operation, and nicknamed Dolly. Upon hearing about her namesake, Parton said: "I will take the dog home to America if nobody claims her within a reasonable amount of time."

During an interview in Stockholm this week though, Parton revealed that the owners of the 15 year old were on their way to collect it.

"We got a call that the true owners did come forward," she said. "They had reported the dog missing but there was a language barrier. I think they were from another country. They got the dog back, everyone feels good about it. The Happy Landings shelter [where the dog was being looked after] has a happy ending now."

Whilst we're incredibly happy that the dog and its owners have been reunited, we can't help but feel a little sad it will never be given the name Dolly had decided upon should it come her way: "Glassie Doggie Parton."

Parton is currently touring her new album Blue Smoke, finishing in Switzerland on 14 July.
