"Weird Al" Yankovic has revealed that Prince is the only artist to ever turn down one of his parodies.
In an interview with NME, Weird AL, revealed that he sought permission from all the artist's parodied on Mandatory Fun (although legally he didn't have to). In seeking to make light of Prince tracks 'Kiss' and 'Doves Cry' in the 80's however, he was repeatedly turned down.
"I ask permission from every artist to parody their song," he told the magazine. "Legally I don't have to but I want them to be in on the joke, not just to turn on the radio one day and be like, 'What?'"
"I've asked Prince several times, he's the only one to turn me down! All throughout the '80s I asked him – I had ideas for 'Kiss' and 'When Doves Cry' but his management turned me down every time. I still hold out hope – if he had another big hit of course I'd want to do my own version."

Mandatory Fun which is Weird Al's 14th album, is also the first to reach the No.1 spot in the US. It features parodies of Iggy Azalea's 'Fancy', Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' and many more.
