According to the much-sought after Adele and Lily Allen producer Greg Kurstin, guitar music is at an "all time low".
Speaking to NME, the poor misinformed chap who has worked with Beyoncé and Lily Allen, said that pop is dominating right now. Obviously it's easy to see why Kurstin might believe this, especially after his latest project Sia's 1000 Form of Fear - a bit of a pop masterpiece - reached the No.1 spot in the States.
"I'm still waiting for rock bands to come back, something raw and relevant," he told the magazine. "There are a lot of rock bands out there, but it’s a hard time for rock. Everything is so pop right now so I’m waiting for something to be the anti-version of that. Something raw, maybe a guitar band."
Listen to 'Alfie', one of Kurstin's productions below
"I know there are a lot of guitar bands, probably more so than in the UK then there are in America, but it’s really at an all-time low in America. So I’m waiting for something exciting, raw and that to me will hopefully be the next thing after pop has exploded as much as it possibly can."
He also worked with Foster the People, Lana Del Rey, Karen O and The Flaming Lips in the past, but that didn't appear to sway his opinion. Someone needs to get this man to a Royal Blood show...
