A fifth week at the top for Ed Sheeran has made X the longest consecutive No.1 album since Adele's eleven week run with 21 back in January 2011.
Ed Sheeran's latest album ' is his second studio album release and has already sold over 1 million records worldwide just weeks after his release, with 400,000 copies sold in the UK alone.
The album was preceded by the lead pop and urban infused 'Sing' which featured and was produced by hitmaker Pharrell Williams who has been nothing but complimentary to the singer/songwriter.
"Ed Sheeran is one of the greatest singer-songwriters-period" Williams expressed in a recent interview.
Along with Williams, Sheeran has also collaborated with the likes of Amy Wadge, Benjamin Levin and Rudimental on the record.
Elsewhere, Dolly Parton's latest 'best of' collection, Blue Smoke is at No.2, while Sam Smith sits at No.3 with In The Lonely Hour, George Ezra comes in at No.4 with Wanted On Voyage and Coldplay complete the top five with Ghost Stories.
Other big hitters in the current album chart include La Roux whose new album Trouble in Paradise has hit the No 6. spot, and Ed Sheeran again with his debut '+' appearing at No. 15.
Meawhile, Sheeran has become the first British name to join a celebrity only Facebook App having been invited after topping the US charts last month.
