An 18-year-old Boston resident has been arrested on suspicion of raping a 17-year-old girl at a Keith Urban concert.
Sean Murphy, 18, is one of the fifty people arrested at the concert and has now plead not guilty to sexually assaulting the girl.
The Sun Chronicle, reports that Murphy and the victim met for the first time during the concert, where both had been consuming alcohol. After kissing at a concession stand, Murphy led the girl away from her friends to the lawn where the assault occurred.
A police report states that a witness told on officer she approached the victim and asked her if the act was consensual, to which she replied "no".
The witness also saw the female break free and run and pushed the suspect off of the victim, causing the suspect to then flee into the crowd.
Witnesses at the concert also say that more than dozen people watched the assault take place and took photos. Police are processing these photos as evidence.
Murphy, the defendant, has no prior arrest record and lives with his parents, who are expected to post the $10,000 bail for his release. The lawyer for the defence has released a controversial statement questioning the allegations saying: "Put simply, this was a consensual act, not a sexual assault. There are no allegation of force or violence against him. This was a private act that regrettably occurred in a public place."
Murphy is scheduled to appear back in court on September 25.
At the same Keith Urban concert, 49 other individuals were taken into custody, with 22 others being hospitalised for alcohol-related causes.
