Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip officially played their last ever gig this afternoon, rounding off an illustrious career for the project with a momentous final show at Bestival.
Choosing to focus on solo projects in the future, the duo, who have played at the festival for the last eight consecutive years decided to perform one last show as a two piece in The Big Top Tent on Saturday afternoon, drawing a huge, sun drenched crowd for a massive send off.
"I want you to look back on this and smile, but I kinda want that smile to be through tears" quipped frontman Scroobius Pip (a lyric from recent track 'Stunner') from within the crowd, before continuing to launch into a set perfectly indicative of their acclaimed career to date.
The likes of 'You Will See Me', 'Get Better' and 'Sick Tonight' sounded expectedly huge and drew a strong reaction from the dedicated audience, with even usually upbeat, jovial tracks such as 'The Beat That My Heart Skipped' possessing an emotional undercurrent due to the circumstances.
Scroob remained on top form throughout, venturing into the crowd from the offset and joking with both those closest to the stage and Le Sac himself about the proceedings, shouting "You didn't know this was the last one? You didn't check twitter?!" between tracks.
Closing with a visceral rendition of 'Letter From God To Man' provided the perfect ending to a majestic set, a worthy celebration of the project's impact over the last decade that also highlighted why Dan Le Sac and Scroobius Pip won't have any issues with their forthcoming solo careers.
Bestival continues throughout the weekend, stay tuned to Gigwise for ongoing coverage from the site.
