Manchester residents have been left in shock after a body was found in a burning bin wagon out the city's O2 Apollo venue.

As Manchester Evening News reports, the grizzly discovery was made after fire crews extinguished a blaze of rubbish in a truck around the back of the gig-goers' favourite venue at around 5am on Monday 15 September.

A spokesperson for waste management company Veolia Environmental Services said: "We can confirm that at approximately 5am on Monday 15 September, a fire was reported in the rear of one of our commercial vehicles located in a car park on the A57 in Ardwick, Greater Manchester.

"Both the fire brigade and police attended the scene. We can confirm this matter is now subject to an ongoing police investigation and we cannot comment further."

The sex and identity of the body has not yet been confirmed.
