It looks as if Foo Fighters may soon just become a 'band for hire' as another crowdfunded gig campaign to bring the band to play a show in Cornwall has raised around £160,000 in just two days.
Following a successful campaign for the band to play Virginia in the US, a similar one to bring the band to Birmingham in the UK reached its target. Now, a fresh crowdfunder campaign for Dave Grohl and co to play in Cornwall has smashed through it's £150,000 target, raising £163,426.
"We believe that if we can show the Foo Fighters how much Cornwall wants them, they will come!" reads the campaign statement. "We are asking you to make this happen by pledging towards the campaign. A small pledge will simply help us on our way, a bigger pledge can ensure that if the gig does happen YOU will be there! We do not know the date or venue for this gig at this stage.
"The Foo Fighter’s management are aware of this campaign and if (when!) it is successful we will begin negotiations for a date in their schedule. We will aim for a date on the 2015 tour but we will also consider 2016 as we think this would be worth waiting for. If we are unable to secure a date in 2015 or 2016 by February 28th 2015 your pledges will not be collected"."

Earlier this year, Foo Fighters declared that gigs arranged and paid for at the request of fans were 'the future' of music - so they agreed to play gig in Richmond, Virginia following an online campaign by Andrew Goldin and friends.
"I'm telling you, it could become the way that bands decide where they want to play," tg=he frontman told Rolling Stone about crowdfunded gigs. "It’s a fun thing; it sort of changes the game. For the past 20 years we always decided who we're going to play with and where we're going to play. But now, if we hear that people want us to come somewhere, maybe we'll come there."
The Cornwall attempt follows a Kickstarter campaign to get Foo Fighters to perform in Birmingham reaching its £150,000 target. Could we soon see a Foo Fighters UK tour entirely upon the request of their fans?
Meanwhile, Foo Fighters will release their new album Sonic Highways on 10 November. A documentary of the making of the record will air across the BBC in late October.
