One of the most eagerly anticipated albums of 2015 - Sleater-Kinney's comeback No Cities To Love - has streamed online early thanks to a mistake by their label.
The band, who have been on hiatus since 2006, are due to release their new album in January 20 2015. However since a mistake in the online shop of their label Sub Pop, those who had pre-ordered the album got a more advanced preview than anyone intended.
The label have issued the following message: "Please accept our apologies for adding April Fools’ to the already overlong list of holidays celebrated in December. When you pre-ordered the Sleater-Kinney album No Cities to Love from our website, you may have read that an advance stream of the album would be made available today, December 22nd. While we have every intention of giving you early access to that stream, the truth is we made an error in granting that access today.
The label took the full blame for what had occured. "We wish we could blame an elite squad of foreign hackers bent on disrupting our meticulously planned release but the truth is we just messed up. We hope you enjoyed your brief holiday taste of this incredible album. We look forward to sharing this album stream with you again on a more permanent basis on January 13th."
The band recently took part in Reddit AMA to mark their return. They clearly seemed thrilled to have returned: "We are so glad to be back! The new songs ARE shorter. Wanna hear another one from the new album??", before posting a link to the Soundcloud stream of 'Surface Envy'.

The AMA also proved they haven't lost their ability to discuss important issues intelligently: "I try to break the stereotype of what women are expected to be onstage. Our culture does not expect women to be physical and primitive and threatening. Those are traits more traditional for men. Until women are allowed to be heroic or scary, we will be less likely to gain true recognition for our art."
