Damon Albarn has swam with 20 foot-long sharks in perhaps his riskiest career move yet...
The former Blur frontman has swapped 'parklife' for wildlife and recorded a documentary - 'In Search of the Holy Tail' - for BBC Radio 4, on the Scottish Isle of Mull. There he swam with basking sharks and seals, and watched the island’s sea eagles.
In the programme, available now on iPlayer Radio, Albarn is joined by filmmaker Ceri Levy and radio DJ Marc Riley, and composes a new piece of music using the echoes of the sea in the coastal caves.
Scared Damon?
In a strange combination of music and bird-watching, the team discuss Gilbert and Sullivan, how to catch blue tits and the reintroduction of sea eagles to the Scottish Islands. As a dramatic finale, Albarn and Riley overcome their shark phobias and bravely venture into the deep waters off Mull to swim with huge basking sharks.
Rather them than us...
