David Bowie has unveiled a new track 'Tis A Pity She Was A Whore', available to download now.
The B-side to 'Sue (Or In Season Of Crime)', both tracks were released to appear on Nothing Has Changed, a new compilation that features rare material alongside classic hits.
A barrage of left-field elements, 'Tis A Pity She Was A Whore' is a decidedly experimental effort from the icon, offsetting visceral instrumental foundations with the subdued vocal style that carried through The Next Day, a contrast that seemingly brings together a wealth of influences from across his career.
Speaking of the track himself, Bowie described the single as “If Vorticists wrote Rock Music it might have sounded like this.”
As always, the lyrical content also remains on point and inventive, with noteable lines including "Man, she punched me like a dude, hold your mad hands I cried, 'tis pity she's a whore". Rather unexpectedly for Bowie, the word 'cock' also features in the second verse.
Audio currently isn't available online of the track, however the single is up for download now on iTunes, one week ahead of the album and A-side's release.
Check out what the Nothing Has Changed boxset will look like below:
Much like 'Sue', this latest track was given it's inaugural airing on BBC 6Music, with Shaun Keaveny premiering the track this morning (10 November), audio of the track is expected to be available to stream soon.
Alongside classic hits, the boxset features a host of rarities from across the decades, most notably tracks including 'Your Turn To Drive', the 2001 version of 'Shadow Man' and James Murphy 'Hello Steve Reich Mix' of 'Love Is Lost' (although sadly not the ten minute version).
