Dave Grohl has spoken out about the prospect of making a solo album, but that he'd rather not as it would 'just sound like Foo Fighters'.
Speaking to Gigwise ahead of announcing the Foos' upcoming UK stadium shows, we asked Grohl after having written, drummed, played guitar and produced for so many albums, if he'd ever consider writing songs for others or going solo.
"I have never written a song for someone else, I don't know how to do it," Grohl told Gigwise. "I sort of try, but it's just like blind date shit - the last thing you want to do is wind up with the most beautiful woman you've ever met and she can't kiss. That's happened, and it sucks!"
He continued: "I get asked every once in a while, but if I give a Foo Fighters' song to someone that isn't in Foo Fighters, they're gonna be like 'That's a fucking Foo Fighters' song'. I even considered making a record on my own, but if I did I'm sure it would just sound like a Foo Fighters record - that's one of the reasons why I don't do it."
Grohl added: "The first record is just me, and people consider that the Foo Fighters, and I'm not going to go and do some reggae record or something like that. In America, there's a big machine that works that way. In Nashville, there's singers, then there's songwriters. I haven't ever really been a part of that."
