Having worked with everyone from Johnny Cash to Jay Z, Rick Rubin is apparently now in the studio with Justin Bieber.
TMZ reports that the pair headed into the studio earlier this week (13 January) to work on what is believed to be Bieber's new album, the first since he announced his 'retirement' on Christmas Eve 2013.
Bieber's manager Scooter Braun also fuelled the fire by posting a picture on Instagram of Rubin and Bieber together, with the caption "Working on some history!"
Rubin's production credits includes work for Kanye West, Slayer, Beastie Boys and a wealth of other stars across three decades, whilst Bieber has remained in the spotlight from his constant run ins with the law and, most recently, posing in his underwear for Calvin Klein.

Despite Bieber's complete lack of street credibility, the creative pairing may prove fruitful. After all Bieber's love of hip-hop has already seen thim collaborate with Chance The Rapper, Big Sean, Future, Lil Wayne and other prominent figures in the hip hop world. And if anyone can reboot Bieber's rap career (memorably described by GQ as "His flow is slower than prostate cancer") then Rick Rubin is your man.
