Adele has turned down the chance to appear on the updated Band Aid 30 charity record, with Bob Geldof revealing she won't answer his calls.
The low-key 'Skyfall' singer was not one of the celebrities seen arriving at West London's Sarm Studios yesterday, despite a high turnout from many of her contemporaries including Chris Martin, One Direction and Rita Ora.
Geldof revealed all to The Sunday Mirror saying: "I got through to someone, not her, but she’s not doing anything at all at the moment. It’s fine, I understand it’s not for everybody and other people support in different ways. I put the call in. I didn't speak to her. I spoke to Jonathan (her manager) and he says, 'I can't speak to her. I try but she won’t pick up the phone'."
Despite her absence, the Boomtown Rats frontman said he was especially pleased with one artists results at yesterday's studio session: "One Direction nailed it. They sound great. It's a very moody track this time. The producer, Paul Hepworth, said to them try and whisper into it and they had never whispered so much, but they were really good."
The 2014 version of the song, to raise money to fight Ebola, will feature new lyrics including: "Well tonight we're reaching out and touching you" replacing Bono's original infamous line "Well tonight thank god it's them instead of you."
The single will be available to buy online from 17 November while the physical release will be released on 8 December.
