David Gilmour joined Bombay Bicycle Club on stage at Earls Court last night for the last ever performance at the venue.
The Pink Floyd frontman suprised fans, joining the band to play lap steel guitar on the London band's 'Rinse Me Down' before picking up an acoustic guitar to sing Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here'. Watch the video below.
Bombay Bicycle Club guitarist, Jamie MacColl welcomed him to the stage, saying: "This man gave me my first guitar and was one of the first people to play this venue and by my count has played here more than 27 times". According to NME, Pink Floyd first played Earls Court Arena on their 'Dark Side of the Moon' tour in 1973.
The show was the last ever gig to take place at Earls Court before it is demolished and the area redeveloped. Before they played the last song, 'Carry Me', MacColl asked fans to pay tribute to the iconic London venue, saying: "As you may know this is the last gig at this venue, so for the next four minutes let's try and give it a fitting farewell, okay?"
David Gilmour recently announced that he aims to release a solo album in 2015, followed by an "old man's" tour.
