Upcoming release from Sufjan Stevens, 'Carrie & Lowell' deals with his struggle to make sense of the beauty and ugliness of love.
The album is a return to Stevens' folk roots and succeeding previous albums named after entire states ('Michigan' and 'Illinois'). This album is more thematically intimate, taking its name from his mother and stepfather.
It is produced by Stevens, alongside Thomas Bartlett and Pat Dillet. It features a swathe of delightful vocalists including the lovely Laura Veirs and Sean Carey of Bon Iver. It will be released in March on Asthmatic Kitty - Stevens' own label.
