Prince has reportedly written a song in response to the unrest in Baltimore, following the death of Freddie Gray while he was in police custody.
As USA Today reports, an official statement from spokesperson Yvette Noel-Schure stated that the song "addresses the unrest in Baltimore and the socio/political issues around the country in the wake of a slew of killings of young black men."
The song, which was recorded this week at Paisley Park, is a “tribute to all of the people of the city of Baltimore”. Release plans for the track have not yet been announced. You can view the accompanying artwork for the song below.
In addition to a several other artists such as The Game and Future Islands, Beyonce has also recently spoken openly about the situation in Baltimore, writing on her Instagram: "People are hurting. Join us in supporting the NAACP to help in the cleanup efforts and to provide housing, food and supplies to those affected by the unrest in Baltimore".
