Daevid Allen, the leader and founding member of jazz prog-rock band Gong, has died aged 77.
The Australian musician announced last month that he had been given six months to live after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. As The Guardian reports, Allen said, "I am not interesting in endless surgical operations and in fact it has come as relief to know the end is in sight."
He added, "I am a great believer in 'The Will of the Way Things Are' and i also believe that the time has come to stop resisting and denying and to surrender to the way it is."
