Elton John has spoken out against Dolce & Gabbana, and called for a boycott of their fashion brand after the giant clothing duo slammed the idea of gay adoption and IVF treatment.
The fashion duo, who are both gay, have a history of speaking out on same-sex marriages and families. Now, the latest controversy comes when they told Italy's Panorama magazine: "We oppose gay adoptions. The only family is the traditional one. No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed."
Dolce added: "You are born to a mother and a father – or at least that’s how it should be. "I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Rented uterus, semen chosen from a catalog."
Elton John, and thousands more, took great offence to their comments - taking to Instagram to say: "How dare you refer to my beautiful children as "synthetic". And shame on you for wagging your judgemental little fingers at IVF - a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfil their dream of having children.
"Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana."
Other musicians to back Sir Elton now include Courtney Love, Ricky Martin and Spice Girl turned designer Victoria Beckham:
Just round up all my Dolce & Gabbana pieces, I want to burn them. I'm just beyond words and emotions. Boycott senseless bigotry! #boycottD&G
