The Rolling Stones have confirmed that they will be heading out on a North American tour, beginning this May, to coincide with the reissue of their 1971 album Sticky Fingers.
The 15-city Zip Code tour will begin on May 24 in San Diego, California, and will finish July 15 in Quebec at Le Festival D’Été de Québec.
The sets will consist of classic hits such as ‘Gimme Shelter’, ‘Paint It Black’, ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’, ‘Tumbling Dice’ and ‘It’s Only Rock ‘N’ Roll’. This tour will be the first time that the Rolling Stones have played North American stadiums since 2005-2007’s A Bigger Bang Tour.
Watch: The Rolling Stones announce North American tour:
In a statement from the band, Mick Jagger said: “We are excited to be back in North America playing stadiums this summer! We are looking forward to being back on stage and playing your favorite songs.”
Keith Richards added: “We love being out on the road and it is great to come back to North America! I can’t wait to get back on the stage!”
The stadium shows are also set to include a “thrust that extends deep into the audience allowing the Stones to interact directly with their fans”, and will also feature video screens and special effects that will “enhance the high-octane experience of attending a live Stones’ show.”
During the tour, the band will also be re-releasing Sticky Fingers (on May 26). The reissue will contain previously unavailable material, including the alternative version of ‘Brown Sugar’ featuring Eric Clapton, unreleased interpretations of ‘Bitch,’ ‘Can’t You Hear Me Knocking’ and ‘Dead Flowers’, an acoustic version of ‘Wild Horses’, and five tracks recorded live at The Roundhouse in 1971 (including ‘Honky Tonk Women’ and ‘Midnight Rambler’).
