Jamie T has unveiled new track 'Marilyn Monroe' ahead of the launch of his upcoming EP, Magnolia Melancholia next week. Check it out below.
Employing the singer's signature Cockney-influenced vocals, the track is full of punk attitude and wit. After a hiatus of five years that ended last year, Jamie clearly has his formula perfected, singing over an energetic instrumental, at times snarling, at others sounding like he's about to laugh at you. Whichever it is, the South London troubadour's continued output represents a welcome return to form from one of the most unique songwriters around.

Jamie's new EP will be released on 6 April, consisting of all-new material following 2014's Carry on the Grudge, his third full-length album. Following lead track 'Don't You Find', 'Marilyn Monroe' appears on the track listing in addition to four other songs, including what he calls "a poignant, stripped-back version of The Replacements classic anthem to misspent youth, 'Bastards of Young' and a cover of cult Canadian alt-rockers Bran Van 3000's 'Mama Don't Smoke'."
The full track listing is as follows:
1. Don’t You Find
2. Marilyn Monroe
3. Mama Don’t Smoke
4. Magnolia Melancholia
5. Riverbed
6. Bastards of Young
Jamie T will play T In The Park on 12th July, and Reading & Leeds Festival on 28th-30th August. For further details and tickets, see below.
