Green Day have announced a live comeback show and hinted at the release of new material.
The pop-punk legends will play at the 1,200-capacity House Of Blues in Cleveland on 16 April. It will be their first show since performing at 2014's South By Southwest festival under the fake name Foxboro Hot Tubs.
The trio are likely to preview new material at the Ohio concert after Billie Joe Armstrong hinted on Instagram that the band would release new songs this year with the words: This is on my mind: #greenday2015 #TheFutureIsNow #greendayforever". Green Day have not released any new music since 2012 with their Uno!, Dos! and Tre! records.
Armstrong, along with his business partner Bill Schneider, recently announced that is opening a guitar store in his hometown of Oakland, CA next month. Broken Guitars, which will be located at 423 40th Street.
“We want to be a shop for musicians,” Schneider told the East Bay Express. “The focus is used American guitars: Gretsch, Fender and not necessarily just vintage ones.” The store’s general price range will run between $400-$800, so it can target discerning players on a budget.
Tickets for the Ohio show go on sale Monday 3rd April.
