Pioneering blues guitarist BB King has been hospitalised following diabetes related dehydration.
The 89-year-old musical icon has spent more than six decades on the road and still plays more than 100 shows a year. He had previously been forced to cancel eight gigs on his tour in October after suffering from exhaustion. His daughter Claudette told the LA Times that her father was "doing much better" and that the symtons had been caused by diabetes. No further information on King's status has been revealed at this time.
Without question one of the most influential blues guitarists of all time, Mississippi born King was inducted into the Rock'N'Roll Hall Of Fame in 1987. He released over 50 albums over his career and has received over 30 Grammy nominations. Both Rolling Stone and Gibson have declared him one of the greatest guitarists of all time and the documentary The Life Of Riley saw everyone from Barack Obama to Bruce Willis (via Bono) pay tribute.
