Nicole Scherzinger has said that she was originally offered Fergie's role in Black Eyed Peas, but had to turn it down.
The former Pussycat Doll made the claim in an interview with Notion magazine, saying that Will.i.am offered her Fergie's role but that she had to turn it down, as she was already contracted elsewhere.
This isn't the first time that Nicole has mentioned it, however - in a 2007 interview, the X Factor judge said, "We had some radio shows together and he (will.i.am) actually met me and Fergie on the same night and he asked me to join the Black Eyed Peas... I wasn't able to."
Nicole was already under contract with girl group Eden's Crush at the time, and had to turn down the offer.
She went on to speak about the Spice Girls and her audition for reality TV show Popstars, claiming that she was much more 'goth' when she started out, and could have offered them something a little different.
Nicole said, "I was so theatre at the time. I was like "I am not going to be a Spice Girl". That is just not me.
"I mean I'm a Spice Girls fan now, but at the time I only wore black and I was goth. I would have been Goth Spice. Ethnic Chanting Spice, that's who I thought I was."
The Black Eyed Peas line-up could have ended up looking very different...
Nicole finished by saying that she was offered 'We Found Love' before Rihanna was, but she turned the song down.
"I passed on 'We Found Love'," Nicole told Notion. "I've got the demo of that song and I was busy at the time.
"They'd sent me a few dance tracks and I wasn't able to get to them and I was like, 'Oh there's so much dance and I want to take a break from it.' That was my fault. I slept on it."
