The BBC have had to downgrade their anticpated 'Gary Barlow Day' on BBC Radio 2 as they received criticism for endorsing Barlow's new album.
On Wednesday 11th December, BBC Radio 2 had made plans for a special 'Gary Barlow Day' that would include a live Q&A and a whole day of performances and interviews with the X Factor judge. However the broadcasters have come under criticism that the day would be seen as a heavy endorsement for Gary Barlow's new album Since I Saw You Last.
A spokesperson for the BBC spoke to The Guardian regarding the planned event, stating:
"We expect to be judged on content we have actually broadcast, rather than in advance of broadcast. However, we are careful to make sure the amount of coverage give to any artist is appropriate and we will always monitor our plans to ensure this remains the case."

The BBC's website now reads that Gary Barlow will be welcomed into the BBC Radio 2 studios on Wednesday 11th December and fans will be able to listen to Gary, live in concert at the BBC Radio Theatre.
