The second day of Download Festival kicked off yesterday, with both England playing the World Cup and the anticipation of seeing Linkin Park playing their Hybrid Theoryalbum in full bringing a real buzz to Donington Park.
But before any headliners, we were able to enjoy the eclectic mix of bands play various stages throughout the day.
Bury Tomorrow and While She Sleeps brought the heavy hardcore to the mainstage, with punters wasting no time in getting involved with mid-day moshpits.
Meanwhile, The Marmozets built up a crowd on the Pepsi Max stage at 2:45pm. The five-piece band from Bingley, with ages ranging between 18 and 22, have already been signed to Roadrunner Records. It's clear that from their killer set that The Marmozets have big plans for metal world domination.
Lead singer Becca Macintyre is a joy to watch, as the frontwoman transcends from bellowing screams to hauntingly clear vocal runs. 'Move, Shake, Hide' is the highlight of the set, as masses of bodies crowd surf across the tent to cement an incredible performance. With the release of their debut album imminent, expect to hear much more from The Marmozets this year.
After a day of heavy best downs and plenty of headbanging, Fall Out Boy mixed things up a bit, bringing catchy pop-punk bursts to the mainstage at 7:10pm. The band were the perfect build up to Linkin Park, as the crowd sung along to hits such as 'Dance Dance', 'The Phoenix' and 'I Don't Care.' They also treated us to their cover of Michael Jackson's 'Beat It.' Overall, an excellent set from the Illinois hailing Emo boys.
The anticipation for Linkin Park was at bursting point before the band took to the stage at just after 9:15pm.
The Californian rockers have agreed to play the album in it's entirety across festivals in Europe this year. Launching into opener 'Paper Cut,' singers Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington grinned from ear-to-ear as they marvelled in the special moment and novelty of playing the album in full for the first ever time. Fans also enjoyed tracks such as 'One Step Closer,' 'Crawling' and 'In The End.'
Shinoda thanked the crowd: "This is the best Download Festival we've ever played, so thank you for sharing and making history with us."
After finishing 'Hybrid Theory' the band treated fans to new tracks from their upcoming album 'The Hunting Party.' Shinoda offered a copy of the album to one lucky fan, after challenging everyone to a scream off to test out who wanted it the most.
It was a nostalgic moment to witness such an incredible album played in full, with band members clearly thrilled to have been given the opportunity to make history.
