The best solo stars we never expected

It's 43 years to the day that George Harrison's 'My Sweet Lord' went to No.1 of the UK singles chart, making him the first Beatle gone solo to top the charts. Good for him, it's always awesome to see the stars who aren't frontmen getting recognition on their own terms.
The late great George Harrison isn't alone, of course. Often the greatest solo stars are the most unexpected - the ones who you never thought would step out of the shadows and into the limelight. These are the guitarists, drummers and musicians waiting in the wings to finally have their voices heard.
So from George Harrison and Peter Buck to Albert Hammond Jr and Graham Coxon, these are the stars who were never frontmen but went on to great things by going it alone.
