Courtney Love has said despite the idea that husband Kurt Cobain shunned the spotlight, he was actually "desperate" to be famous.
The information comes to light in a preview for new National Geographic documentary series The 90s: The Last Great Decade, which in part looks at Nirvana's career. In the trailer, interviews from the past and footage of the band are cut with present interviews with widow Courtney Love, Nevermind producer Butch Vig and 90210 actress Shannen Doherty.
In one clip an interview is taking place and Kurt Cobian, says: "I'm too stubborn to allow myself to ever compromise our music or turn us into big rock stars. I just don't feel like that." However this is then undercut by Love who adds that behind the scenes "he wanted it baaaad".

"He wrote to every major, minor, any label," Love goes on. "'We'll pay. Let us be on your label.' He was desperate to be the biggest rock star in the world. Absolutely desperate. But he made it look like it was thrust upon him."
The National Geographic series will premiere on Sunday 6 July and will get all nostalgic over topics including "Bill Clinton's presidency, MTV's The Real World, Jerry Springer, and the Macarena.
Also in recent news, Frances Bean Cobain made headlines after critisizing Lana Del Rey's comments about dying young.
