XL Recordings have revealed plans to release compilation album, featuring artists spanning the length of their history as an awesome label.
The label, which has managed bands including The White Striipes, Adele, Jamie xx, Thom Yorke and SBTRKT, will release the album as a vinyl boxset, CD and digital download. Something for all the family.
In the sleeve notes to the album, which is called Pay Close Attention, XL owner Richard Russell writes: "XL Recordings is a collaborative endeavour, and many people have contributed to its evolution. In the song 'Out Of Space', Liam Howlett of The Prodigy provided a blueprint when he sampled Kool Keith of Ultramagnetic MC’s rapping these words: 'Pay Close Attention'.
"And whilst XL has never had any outside ownership, Gil Scott-Heron advised me not to even consider XL an “independent”, because everything is connected."
The album is accompanied by a newly launched website, which is comprised of a series of immersive and interconnected timelines that allow you to explore the work of artists who appear on the album.
Pay Close Attention is set for release on 25 August, and is available to pre-order now. The full tracklist is below.
