Emerging, like many an artist, from a series of menial, soul destroying jobs, Paul Steel’s first single (following the mini album ‘April and I') is the sound of being young, feisty and against the world, all crammed into two and half minutes. Like a vintage Supergrass single- back when they were young, free and kept their teeth nice and clean - ‘Your Loss’ is pure fizzy pop, full of brash sentiments and post-teen angst resignation, taking in taking a vaguely psychedelic, quirky turn that Gruff Rhys and his merry men wouldn’t be ashamed to put their name to.
With a pop sensibility that – without wanting to sound patronising - belies his youthful age, Paul Steel is one to keep close watch on.
