Stripped down piano and the elegant voice of Patrick Watson are the only components of this tearjerker that is quite magical in its effectiveness. Simple, beautiful. “On a bad day, looking for the great escape,” sings Watson on 'The Great Escape,' as he tries to capture the wide eyed yearning and folly of chasing a dream in a touching, mature and warming way. The band head out on tour with Cold War kids in November and it may be worth checking them out before the Ben Folds comparisons start in earnest.
