Surely one of the most consistent and varied bands that Britpop produced, Supergrass here release new single, ‘Diamond Hoo Ha Man’, on limited 7”. Supergrass have entirely transformed themselves from the days of ‘Alright’, whilst remaining great indie disco fare for approximately 16 years. It’s catchy, familiar, and a tad lyrically eccentric, as per usual: "Now I’ve got you in my suitcase/Oh you’re duty free." Everything’s in place to make it more likeable than it actually is, and the only reason for that is that it seems to be mixing up too many styles – it sounds a bit dated at heart (70s, specifically), yet its tries to add a spattering of jerk-pop guitar and ends up confused.
Released 14/01/08 on Parlophone.
