Our favourite time of a festival is in the magic of the early evening - that sweet sunset hour a few hours before the headliner. The air cools, the sky darkens and a massive crowd gathers to see a band coming of age: so close to peak of the bill while absolutely on top of their game. This year, that hour was filled by The Maccabees.

Speaking to Gigwise ahead of their massive set, Orlando Weeks and Felix White looked back on the already massive year they've had, making the album of the year and what the coming years have in store.
"I'd love to," guitarist Felix White told Gigwise when asked about the potential of headlining in the future. "I think we could do it one day, we're just slowly getting better at what we do. About ten years ago we were the first on in the news bands tent, and I think we genuinely have got better as we got bigger. That's a blessed place to be in - if it keeps going like that, then great."

The band's set was followed by a huge performance from friend and collaborator Jamie T - who chose not to join them on stage like he did in Glastonbury in order to 'get his head together'.
"It isn't much of a working relationship," laughs Felix White. "He just came to rehearsal and we just did it and then ended up doing it at a gig. We've known him so long and we've always talked about doing something together, so it just happened to work this time."
And will they be working on something in the future?
"We love Jamie, and if he ever wanted to do something I'm sure he'd be up for it, but but we're both just doing our own thing."
