Kendal Calling announces sparkling festival line-up

Just when you thought they couldn't get any better

Manic Street Preachers, Stereophonics, and Brian Wilson presents Pet Sounds, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Soul, Tinie Tempah, and Franz Ferdinand have been announced as the main acts at the forthcoming Kendal Calling.

News of Wales' two biggest bands playing shows that this medium sized festival is nothing medium or half-hearted about its line-up.

Richard Jones from Stereophonics comments: “We’ve been fortunate to headline and play at some amazing festivals over the years and it’s an honour to play at Kendal Calling this summer a first for us in the Lake District. See you there!” Commenting on their appearance, Manic Street Preachers say: "We are genuinely thrilled to be headlining Kendall Calling, a festival we have always wanted to play in a truly inspiring setting.”

It'll be an absolute privilege Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson play his last ever UK gig as he present ‘Pet Sounds’ in its entirety plus his greatest hits with Special Guests Al Jardin and Blondie Chaplin. Certain to be a highlight.

Those there early on the Thursday - before the festival hits fifth gear on the Friday - will see Franz Ferdinand take the headline slot on the mainstage that Charlatans had last year.

Impassioned songwriter Frank Turner will be there with band the Sleeping Souls for a a set that suits the green English fields more than any other terrain. Meanwhile one of Britin's best rappers, Tinie Temper top things off on this mostly UK line-up.

Kendal Calling is held just off the M6 between the small village hamlet of Arkham and the town of Penrith, where Withnail and I accidentally go on holiday. It's set on the plush green land privately owned by the aristocratic Lowther family. Spending a weekend here would be a treat even without the music so to have a line-up this good makes it one of the highlights of the festival calendar.

Ticket go on sale 9am 27 January. Check here for ticket details
