George Michael’s funeral has been delayed while coroners await the results of toxicology tests, according to reports.

The star’s body cannot be released to the family until Oxfordshire senior coroner Darren Salter has received the results of tests conducted to discover if any drug intake had contributed towards his death and a full inquest is completed, according to the Daily Mirror.

The tests were ordered after Michael was found dead, aged 53, at his Goring-On-Thames home on Christmas Day 2016, and were expected to take several weeks.

Meanwhile, an online petition with almost 1500 signatures has been launched to have a park bench on Hampstead Heath dedicated to the singer. Michael memorably made a cameo in Ricky Gervais’ comedy series Extras in which he sat on “the waiting bench” in the park in the hope of finding sexual partners.
