Newcomer Wennink is the perfect listening experience for festival season, or at least, those difficult weeks between the heady days of dancing in a field and sloshing through the mud with a plastic cup of warm beer.
The singer/songwriter is making waves with his beautiful, fragile music, which packs an emotional punch - while at the same time remains ethereal and delicate. He cites influences such as James Blake and Atoms For Peace, and these are easy to spot in his new track, 'Mirrors', which has today premiered on Gigwise. Listen below.
A piano led track, the song swells from humble beginnings to a sparkling, spectacular and deeply warming introduction to a new artist. The blend of the intimate and the epic here is near perfect, and Oliver Wennink's vocals (which have echoes of rising US soul star Mikky Ekko) are truly sublime.
