A campaign to bestow Ozzy Osbourne with knighthood has received a large amount of support.
The petition, spearheaded by Helen Maidiotis on causes.com and found here, seeks to convince David Spooner, Honours and Appointments Secretariat, to knight the heavy metal icon.
Thus far, the petition has been signed by over 21,000 people, pushing it over its goal by more than 50 signatures.

In her appeal, Maidiotis wrote that a knighthood for Osbourne is 'long overdue' and that his contributions to the music industry are enough to make him worthy of such an honour.
Osbourne in his career has of course received several honours, including being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 and entering the UK Music Hall of Fame on account of his work with Black Sabbath and as a solo artist.
Osbourne is set to release a new compilation celebrating his career as a musician. 'Memoirs of a Madman' will be released this October and will feature 17 of Osbourne's hit singles. It will be accompanied by a DVD that will feature unreleased live footage, interviews and classic music videos.
