Joel Little has discussed the progress of Lorde's new album, and it looks like things could be getting a little more progressive.
Little admitted 'we're not pigeonholing ourselves in any particular way' at the ASCAP Pop Music Awards in Los Angeles, where he spoke about Lorde's second album and how they were trying new things together in the studio. Little was collecting awards for his work on 'Royals' and 'Team' with Lorde.
"We've written a couple of songs. We've not done a whole lot of production on it," Little said to Billboard. "We just want to make sure the songs are really good and try and experiment with some new things - just different beats and whatever occurs in the studio."
He continued: "We can take the time to make sure we've explored every option."
Little had previously said that Lorde would be starting work on her next LP in March, whilst Lorde was quoted as saying at the Golden Globe Awards as 'having no timeline' for her next album.
Despite releasing her world-conquering debut back in 2013, the teen sensation has still had one hell of a year - pulling together a brilliant roster to curate the Hunger Games soundtrack in 2014. But, it seems she's had little rest - planning to record new material in March.
"That's the plan, basically," Little told Australian radio station Triple J. "We're just going to start writing some songs. We haven't got some planned out 'this is what it's going to sound like'... I think we're just going to start writing and when it starts to feel right, we'll know that it's right. It's pretty simple really."

Meanwhile Lorde has remained particularly aloof regarding the follow-up to 2013's Pure Heroine, telling the Golden Globes: "For me I have to kind of write a project lyrically before I attack it musically. So I've written a lot of amazing stuff and I'm just tentatively starting to make it music."
When asked for a release she responded: "I have no timeline. I really don't care."
