According to the results of Spotify's 'musical map of the world', Hip-Hop is the most listened to genre on planet Earth.
The online map reads and analyses nearly 20 billion songs and displays listening trends for over 1000 individual cities.
The map updates ever fortnight and shows users the 'distinctive' tracks of their chosen city. Spotify explained these to be tracks that are particularly popular to people in one city relative to the listening habits of the rest of the world.
For example, we had a look at the musical landscapes of London, Nottingham and Edinburgh. The map showed London listeners favouring Everything Everything and Jamie XX, Lethal Bizzle as a distinctive artist to Nottingham and The View and Paolo Nutini as popular among the Scots in Edinburgh.

A few months ago, a leaked contract revealed how much Spotify pay record labels showing that, despite the war on streaming, the service gives record labels a fair cut.
And despite the uprising of Apple Music, Spotify feel assured of themselves having announced their move into the world of video. Better still, Facebook have denied plans to launch their own streaming service.
