Shortly after the video went online, a vile 4chan thread was set up, accusing Mayberry of hypocrisy for taking centre-stage in the video, calling her a "whore" and a "slut" and discussing extensively whether they would have sex with her. When Mayberry was, ludicrously, asked to join the discussion by a Twitter user, she tweeted, "Dear anyone who thinks misogyny isn't real. It is and this is what it looks like."

Speaking to Gigwise backstage at Leeds Festival, Marmozets Sam Macintyre weighed in on the incident. "Chvrches are great, who gives a fuck about it," they said. "These people, just get over your fucking selves and just listen to the fucking music."
They continued, "If you like the band, you like the band, if you don't like the band, then don't listen to it - it's as simple as that. It's just really fucking annoying when people branch out to all these other fucking reasons, like the music video, or, 'She's doing too many interviews... She's in the music video too much..' - all that sort of shite."

Marmozets also spoke to Gigwise at Reading Festival, where they talked supporting Muse on their intimate Psycho UK tour earlier this year.
