Adele has posted a heartfelt message on Facebook confirming the release of her third album, 25, and apologising for how long it's taken to materialise.
"I feel like I've spent my whole life so far wishing it away," she writes in the post, "Always wishing I was older, wishing I was somewhere else, wishing I could remember and wishing I could forget too."
She adds, "My last record was a break-up record and if I had to label this one I would call it a make-up record. I'm making up with myself. Making up for lost time. Making up for everything I ever did and never did. But I haven't got time to hold on to the crumbs of the past like I used to."
As for the album's title, the now 27-year-old explains, "Turning 25 was a turning point for me, slap bang in the middle of my twenties. Teetering on the edge of being an old adolescent and a fully-fledged adult."

The singer released her second album, 21, back in 2011, when it achieved critical acclaim and huge commercial success. The album has gone 11x Platinum in the US and 16x Platinum in the UK.
Shortly thereafter, she won an Oscar for 'Skyfall' - her contribution to the Bond film of the same name - but since then, she's fallen out of the public eye entirely. Until now.
During the ad break for last week's X Factor, the screen went black save for white lyrics, while 30 seconds of a brand new, and quite brilliant, Adele song played. There were no dates, no title, and no other information.

As for the four-year wait, there's a simple explanation. "I'm sorry it took so long, but you know, life happened."
