EDM festival TomorrowWorld might not return in 2016, after its parent company filed for bankruptcy.
The Atlanta-based festival is a US spin-off of Tomorrowland, which takes place in Belgium and Brazil. Those festivals will go ahead in 2016 without a hitch, but the same can't be said of TomorrowWorld.
As Fact reports, after the bankruptcy of its parent comany, SFX Entertainment, the festival may be cancelled. In a statement, spokesperson Debby Wilmsen said, "Both the festival in Boom [Belgium] and the one in Itu [Brazil] will go ahead without any disruption due to the current situation. In light of the present situation, no concrete plans have yet been made for TomorrowWorld 2016."
She goes on to suggest tensions between SFX and Tomorrowland's European owner, saying, "Since 2013 we have collaborated with SFX for the foreign editions of Tomorrowland held in the USA and Brazil. However, we have noticed that our vision and goals, including a long-term strategy, are different from those of the publicly listed company."
Though it's hosted massive acts and many thousands of fans, TomorrowWorld has only been running since 2013, and last year's edition as hampered by bad weather, which forced the closure of the site to non-campers.
