The Monkees are set to release their first album in 20 years, with songwriting credits from the likes of Weezer's Rivers Cuomo and Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard.
Last year saw the 50th anniversary of the band - who were initially formed for the American TV series of the same name, about an "imaginary band that wanted to be the Beatles, but that was never successful."
They eventually took on a life of their own outside of the TV show, after succesfully fighting for the right to supervise their own musical output. The sitcom was cancelled in 1968, but the band's success and output continued.
Davey Jones, the band's only English member, died suddenly in 2012 at the age of 66, but the rest of the members are still alive and well. They've now announced details of a comeback album - Good Times - their first in two decades.
As The Line Of Best Fit reports, Weezer's Rivers Cuomo, Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard, XTC's Andy Partridge and Rogue Waves' Zach Schwartz are contributing to the songwriting, while Fountains Of Wayne's bassist Adam Schlesinger is producing the album.
The album will also feature a handful of unfinished songs from the band's '60s heyday, some of which were co-written by Neil Diamond and Harry Nilsson.
Good Times is set for release on 10 June, and a 2016 tour is expected to follow.
