Yet another venue in Manchester has closed down after eight long years of service to bands and musicians.

Carson’s Sports Bar has hosted the likes of Catfish and the Bottlemen, Viola Beach, and Slow Reader’s Club. The venue has closed its doors, citing that the family owners would like to try different ventures, with the venue’s space or with a new building.

In an interview with local paper, Manchester Evening News, Jemma Carr, who was part of the family owners said: “We would like to publicly thank our customers for sharing the experience with us.”

She continued: “We have had eight amazing years as a family running Carsons and made some brilliant memories, but we have all agreed it’s time for a change. We haven’t decided on the next venture yet - we may reopen as a private event space or we may let someone else open the venue.” Then added: “We have made lifelong friends and it has been a pleasure to showcase new music with the band nights".

A regular DJ at the venue for four years, Dave Sweetmore said: “Carsons isn’t just another venue closing down, it’s a piece of history.”
