If you were holding out any last glimmer of hope that Simon & Garfunkel might still one day reunite, we’ve got bad news for you. It’s probably not going to happen.

The iconic folk rock duo were among the most popular artists of the ‘60s, but split up in 1970 after reaching the end of a turbulent working relationship. They’ve reunited a handful of times since then, including as recently as 2010.

Since then though, things have turned even more sour. Despite the fact that in 2012, Art Garfunkel responded to rumours of a reunion by saying, “You’ll have to ask him, it takes two to tango. I like to tango, so count me in,” Paul Simon was less positive. “I would just as soon not go back and visit the past,” he told BBC Radio 4.

Last year, Garfunkel suggested that he had “created a monster” in Simon, though he did concede that “while we’re still alive” a reunion could still happen. Unfortunately, Simon feels otherwise.

Speaking to Rolling Stone ahead of his forthcoming US tour, Simon was asked if he would be open to a reunion somewhere down the line. “No, out of the question,” he replied. “We don’t even talk.”

That’s that then.
