Ryan Adams is to release a limited edition box set of his latest album Prisoner in February including a collection of action figures.

Adams’ sixteenth album, said to be heavily influenced by Bruce Springsteen, AC/DC, ELO and his divorce from actress Mandy Moore, is due on Pax Am/Blue Note on February 17. The accompanying box-set ‘Prisoner: End Of The World’ will include each of the album’s twelve tracks pressed onto its own individually coloured seven-inch vinyl alongside a set of 2D figures of his full band, a working replica of his stage set complete with lights and audio and a variety of animals and objects.

The set will also feature seventeen previously unreleased B-sides and twelve random copies will come with an additional seven-inch featuring Adams singing a solo acoustic version of one of the album’s tracks on a vintage Voice-O-Graph recording machine at New York’s Electric Lady Studios. Each of the album’s songs was recorded once, straight to vinyl, and the twelve singles will be disseminated amongst the box-set editions. Adams Instagrammed a picture of one of the clear vinyl singles with the caption “things to hide in the box”.

The album was reportedly hard work for Adams, as he cut his batch of new songs down from a total of 80. “How do I make a real distinct record where anybody listens to it and says, ‘That's the truth from beginning to end?’” he said to Entertainment Weekly. “So it's like exercise. It sucks in the beginning. But then you get into it.”
