Frank Ocean's father is reportedly suing the Blond artist for defamation over a Tumblr post.
According to TMZ, Ocean's father Calvin Cooksey is seeking a whopping $14.5 million in damages after the singer claimed he used the word "faggot" in front of him when Ocean was just six years old.
Cooksey has said that the claim is untrue and has “damaged his financial opportunities in film and music”
The blog post - which was in response to the Orlando nightclub shooting last summer - reads: “I was six years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a faggot as he dragged me out a neighbourhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty. That was the last afternoon I saw my father and the first time I heard that word, I think, although it wouldn’t shock me if it wasn’t.”
Ocean's problems with his father are very much in the public eye. The singer previously took to Twitter to say "Just found out my absent father’s been cyberstalking me, hi dad”.
Meanwhile, Ocean once again took to Tumblr to express his views on another problematic figure in his life...President Donald Trump. Ocean said: "the world can see America divided and the chaos in the streets" and then attacked Trump's speech, saying: “Barack we love you but it would’ve been equally presidential if you would’ve just walked on out while Donald got through that struggle speech trashing your career. The majority knows man, we know you did good. We see it. The majority sees Donald for who he is too. He ain’t slick. And it’s too bad the majority doesn’t count.”
Frank Ocean is set to headline Manchester's Parklife festival alonside The 1975 in June. The show will be Ocean's first UK gig since 2014.
Frank Ocean released his second studio album Blond in August last year.
