Sir Elton John will have a hand in curating a new vinyl record subscription service, which is set to launch in April.

Experience Vinyl will also use artists such as George Clinton, Quincy Jones and Sean Lennon to help establish the new service, according to Billboard.

Vinyl fanatics will gain an insight into artists personal music taste, with the subscription including one of the artist's favourite record, personal commentary on the record, and a list of their top ten albums. Subscribers will also be able to access the store and gain rewards for using the service.

A part of sales made from subscribers will go to a charity of the artist's choice. John has opted for a cut of his to go to The Elton John AIDS Foundation.

The idea for the new service came from founder Brad Hammonds' blog, which presented artists with a Desert Island Discs style scenario, where they answered the question: If you you could only listen to 10 albums for the rest of your life, which ones would you pick? Experience Vinyl builds on that idea, and actually delivers the chosen records to fans directly.

Hammond told Billboard, "Experience Vinyl is a different kind of subscription service and a dream for any vinyl lover. It’s a record club where artists handpick not only the records they love, but the ones they couldn’t live without. Who better to send you great music each month than artists themselves? It’s an honor to work with some of the greatest musicians of all time, and we’re excited to share their personal and meaningful picks with all of you."

It seems the vinyl revival continues to grow and evolve, with music sharing moving back to the physical format.
