Rapper Plan B has admitted he had to relearn all his songs ahead of his most recent show in a bid to remove all the swear words from his lyrics.
Plan B, real name Ben Drew, played for 2,000 fans, including X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger as he launched O2’s 4G network at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire.
But the gig was also streamed live on big screens at Victoria and King’s Cross stations, as well as Westfield Shepherd’s Bush, meaning the iLL Manors star had to mind his mouth a bit.
Ahead of the show 29-year-old Drew admitted he’d been trying to clean up his songs, saying: “I’ve been told I can’t swear, so I have to relearn my songs without the swear words or swap them around with words that aren’t offensive.
“So now I’m nervous and a bit on edge because I’ll either swear accidentally or by not wanting to swear, I’ll mess up my lyrics and forget the sentences.”
Plan B played a 90-minute set, backed by footage from iLL Manors, drawing on material from his debut album Who Needs Action When You Got Words, breakthrough sophomore album The Defamation Of Strickland Banks and his most recent album iLL Manors.

“It’s good to be back in this venue,” Drew said, talking of how much Shepherd’s Bush Empire meant to him.
“I took time out from my holiday to play but it’s alright, because Shepherd’s Bush is a nostalgic place for me - it was the first proper headlining gig in London on my first tour in 2007 so it’s a silver lining,”
Earlier this summer Plan B insulted Eminem’s fans when he supported the US rapper in Ireland, complaining that it was the worst crowd he’d ever played to.
